Chromium Carbide plates

Rio- Carb Chromium Carbide CrC plates are manufactured with a Hard Chromium Carbide deposit welded onto a mild steel backing.

c. The process is automated and the CrC deposit cost is low. The overlay has excellent resistance to Sliding Abrasion, whilst the mild steel backing allows the material to be rolled or shaped. The optimum hardness is 52 Rc, and actual abrasion tests show that a wear life 10 x that of "martensitic" 400 BHN steel is achieved. The alloy is typically 23% Chromium, 3. 5% Carbon, with additions in Manganese, Silicon and Carbide formers. The Rio- Carb MaxCS process ensures maximum Carbide Saturation - the key to long wear life! Plates are manufactured 1. 2m x 2. 5m (3m each) or 1. 5m x 3m (4. 5m each) in size, the thicknesses vary from 8 mm (4/ 4) to 24 mm (12/ 12) .
