Cold Heading Quality wire is a technically demanding product which is used by customers of JWT for the cold forming of engineered fasteners. Success in producing wire of suitable quality for today's extensively formed fasteners has been achieved by concentrating on several areas. First, in raw material selection, JWT carefully analyzes each rod producer's capabilities and only buys material from those who can meet tough standards. JWT then uses four large continuous coil annealing furnaces to produce the ductility needed by our customers. In the annealing process, the wire is heated to temperatures near 1400?F under a carefully controlled atmosphere to avoid decarburization. JWT has adopted Progra mm able Logic Controls (PLC) extensively for process control on the shop floor. As a large, full service mill, JWT is capable of producing a wide variety of sizes, grades and coatings.
