Hastelloy C- 276 is a nickel chromium molybdenum alloy having perhaps the broadest general corrosion resistance of all co mm only used alloys. It was developed initially for use with wet chlorine, but it also offer excellent resistance to strong oxidizers such as cupric & ferric chlorides & to a variety of chlorine compounds & chlorine contaminated materials. Because of its broad chemical resistance , alloy C- 276 is the second most popular alloy, following SS- 316 for vessels used in research & development work. It can also be used with concentrated hydrochloric, sulfuric & phosphoric acids. Alloy C- 22 or HC casting equivalent to C- 276 forging grade is also offered.
