Sponge iron is a metallic product produced through direct reduction of iron and iron ore pellets in the solid state. It is a substitute for scrap and is mainly used in making steel through the secondary route. Pioneer sponge iron is manufactured at one of the most efficient Sponge Iron plants in the country, a 200TPD Sponge Iron Plant with an induction furnace and Rolling Mill to cater the huge demand of construction steel in India and abroad. The best quality coal is used to manufacture quality sponge iron. At Pioneer sponge, the basic raw materials used for the production of sponge iron are iron ore, non- coking coal and dolomite. Since, sponge iron is highly sensitive to raw material characteristics; our production process takes into account the chemical and physical characteristics of raw materials, both individually and in combinations. High Quality: The quality of sponge iron is primarily ascertained by the percentage of metallization (removal of oxygen) , which is the ratio of metallic iron to the total iron present in the product.
