DescriptionFoseco Steel has over 40 years experience in ingot heading, and is able to offer a wide range of products and services to customers. Products include KALMINEX and BORFAX/ KALOREX exothermic ingot head lining systems, PROFAX insulating assemblies, FERRUX and KALTOP anti- piping systems, and STELOTOL indirect teeming products. Foseco Steel also supports customers with a service aimed at optimising casting processes and product use. Working in close partnership with customers, Foseco Steel can tailor the service provided to meet individual performance and operational requirements, helping to achieve significant improvements in productivity, steel quality and cost.
ApplicationAMITEC is a technology developed by Foseco Steel for measuring the thermal conductivity of insulating materials and exothermic powders and boards, so that the rate of heat loss of hot topping materials used for ingot casting can be visually represented and tailored to specific casting conditions. AMITEC is part of the standard quality control system for the production of all ingot heading systems produced by Foseco Steel. SOLSTAR is a diagnostic software progra mm e for depicting the solidification pattern in an ingot mould. Data acquired in a customers plant can be fed into the progra mm e to provide a visual representation of the ingot structure during solidification, enabling the ingot head ratio to be established in relation to the casting conditions.
