There are three distinct grades based on their minimum total iron (Fe) content: 58%, 62%, and 65%. The chemical profile, specifically the high Iron(II) oxide (FeO) content, alongside the physical density, strongly indicates that this is a magnetite-dominant ore deposit, offering specific thermal advantages during downstream metallurgical processing.
Total Iron (Fe % min):
- 65% Fe Grade: This is a premium-grade product. High-grade ores like this are highly sought after by modern steelmakers because they increase blast furnace productivity, reduce the volume of slag produced, and lower carbon emissions per ton of hot metal produced.
- 62% Fe Grade: This represents the industry benchmark. Global iron ore spot prices (such as the Platts IODEX) are typically tied to a 62% Fe baseline. This grade offers a standard, highly liquid product for global steel mills.
- 58% Fe Grade: This is considered a lower-grade ore. It usually trades at a discount to the 62% benchmark. It is often used as a blending ore by steel mills to lower their overall raw material costs, balancing it against higher-grade feeds.
