On Tuesday, September 22, the European Commission announced its intention to impose provisional anti-dumping duties on aluminium extrusions from China. The duties range from 30,4% to 48% and are the result of an investigation launched in February this year after a complaint from industry association European Aluminum.
It is noted that the import of semi-fabricated aluminium products from China to the European Union more than doubled in the last five years (2014-2019) and took market share away from European manufacturers.
The provisional duties on aluminium extrusions are expected to be imposed by October 15, and may have retroactive effect on the products imported from August 25, 2020. The European Commission's investigation is expected to be finalized in April 2021.
