Steel Pipes Manufacturing companies

This category will be useful to customers dealing with many industries and construction. Steel pipes are hollow products made of steel by welding, brazing, casting, pressing or rolling with a round, square or other profile. Steel pipes have a long length with a small sectional area. They are durable, wear-resistant, and have a long service life. When choosing steel pipes, the future destination, operating conditions, shape, size, physical, and mechanical qualities are taken into account.

All grades of steel, as well as its compounds with other metals, are used for steel pipes production. The physical properties of steel pipes are length, wall thickness, external and internal diameters as well as sectional shape.

In 2017, the world production of steel pipes amounted to more than 174 million tons. China accounted for 54% of world steel pipe production. Also, the major global players of the pipes manufacturing are the USA, Japan, and Russia.

Steel pipes are used in constructing pipeline systems (water, gas, etc.), engineering, machine tool industries, and in construction as an element of metal structures. Besides, they are used to protect electrical wiring and telephone cables from external influences.

The price of steel pipes is formed depending on a variety of features including the steel grade, production method, dimensions as well as the presence of additional coatings. On the platform, the suppliers mainly from China offer pipes at an average price of $ 500-2500 per ton with a minimum order of one tone.

Steel pipes are widely used in industry, construction and everyday life. They are used for open and closed pipelines in order to transport liquids and gases, to protect power and signal cables, also are used in aircraft construction, automotive, in everyday life - in water supply and heating systems. These are durable products which can hold out significant loads, but with the restrictions in use, which caused by freezing and low resistance to the formation of corrosion and various sediments.

Classification of steel pipes: by type, coating

Steel pipes are classified into many types based on linear sizes, production method and coating.

Types of steel pipes by size:

Types of steel pipe by production method:

By anti-corrosion coating

Zinc coating is used against corrosion:

(cold and hot zinc-plating) with extruded polyethylene, polyethylene (in one, two or three layers), with cement-sand mixture, epoxy-bitumen mixture, etc.

Steel pipe production: main methods

According to the production method, steel pipes can be divided into two main types - with a welded seam and without a seam.

Producing with welded seam

Welded pipes are made from a flat steel sheet, which is rolled up depending on section form and seam type. If the seam is straight, the steel strip is rolled into a tube using rollers and is welded with tungsten electrode in an inert gas (TIG - welding) or with high frequency current (HF - welding).

A steel tape is wound in a spiral in order to obtain a spiral pipe. Profile pipes - without round cross-section as well as water and gas pipes are also produced by welding method.

Features of seamless pipes production

Seamlees pipes are made from steel rods using drilling, casting, hot or cold forming. The first method implies drilling a hole in steel cylinder, the second - steel is poured into a mold with a rod. Very often deformation methods are used for producing of pipes.

Seamless hot rolled pipes are produced by heating a rod in furnace and turning it into a cylinder (after the material becomes plastic). The workpiece of irregular shape is processed in rollers, giving the needed length and diameter.

By cold deformation, the workpiece is cooled down before processing on the rollers, but is annealed before the final calibration. Heavy wall thickness pipe are never welded.
